What Is Couples Yoga Therapy?
Couples yoga therapy is when 2 people in a relationship want to use a body-based approach to enriching or improving that relationship. Unlike talk therapy which relies on conversation to gain perspective, a somatic approach connects the mind and body. Allowing you to see your relationship from a new perspective, and gain new insights.
Why You Might Need Couples Yoga Therapy?

The relationship feels stuck
You are putting the “us” on a back burner till the family/career/daily needs are met
You give excuses to avoid intimacy
Things ARE great & you want to enrich your relationship
A New Way To Communicate
Communicating is all about sharing information and feelings. In a session I direct embodied experience, you connect deeply with your body and with each other. You share any thoughts, feelings, and emotions that may come up. I will hold space for you both. And offer you the necessary tools to help you share your experience.
What Do My Sessions Look Like?
Using an embodied approach, you and your partner will explore connection, communication, and intimacy through mindful movement, breath, and dialogue. I facilitate the session but together we co-create the tone and direction.
I start the session by checking in with you both. What do you want to get from the session? What is going on for you both right now? Then we start with movement, breath work, and poses. The poses are simple couple poses that can be done by anyone no matter your fitness or flexibility. The poses are designed for you to be able to stay a while and connect deeply with your body but also be with your partner in this embodied state. In a pose you may synchronize breath, assist each other, or link your bodies to create a single pose. This needs cooperation, and lets you rely on each other, which fosters communication and builds trust. At the end of the session, I will guide you through an integration. You can reflect on what came up and how that relates to your relationship. Finally, we develop an action step that you can take with you.
